Since 2012, the firm has delivered complex civic, institutional, residential, transportation, and community projects throughout coastal British Columbia. Formed through the merger of Ben Checkwitch Design in New York and David Poiron Architect in Nanaimo, CPA combines international experience in cultural and institutional work with a deep understanding of regional construction, coastal conditions, and community-focused design. Today, CPA is a full-service practice providing architecture, interior design, and master planning services, with expertise in sustainable design, prefabrication, and complex project coordination. The firm is recognized for combining design clarity with the disciplined execution of thoughtful, highly resolved work that is both buildable and memorable. Our clients include businesses owners, public institutions, transportation authorities, Indigenous communities, healthcare providers, housing societies, developers, schools, and homeowners across British Columbia. As a ten-person studio, CPA remains directly engaged in every project from conception through completion.
